Cr Pahlke is always keen to assist community groups access grants from external agencies and also ease the financial burden that local organisations face on a daily basis. Council provides funding for non-profit and community organisations through our various Community, Sporting and Cultural Departments. Even funding for specific themes -Youth, Seniors, Disability, and Multi Cultural events and even Regional Arts Development Fund. A national facility has been established to provide insurance coverage for not-for-profit community groups. Established by insurers Jardine Lloyd Thompson, Local Community Insurance Services will provide public liability and a range of other coverage to community groups which have annual funding or turnover of less than $5million and consist promarily of volunteers. Did you know that for those very special times, letters from the Queen, Prime Minister, Premier, State and Federal Pollies, and myself or the Mayor can be arranged? Just give us plenty of notice and we can assist with this.
The Division 10 office has a notice board where community groups can advertise their activities, meeting times and contact details for upcoming events. There is always something of interest on this board, so drop in and catch up on local news and events. Flyers can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or be dropped into the counter during office hours.
FOILS is a great community based support initiative that helps organise events and activities that promote the library service. Organised in consultation with library staff, FOILS activities include book sales Friday Films, Lunch at the Library, Literary Luncheon and theatre nights. Becoming an active member of FOILS is a great way to support the Library and meet new friends. Find out more here.
Don’t forget to register with Council for a new green waste bin. Have your garden waste collected from your kerbside on a fortnightly basis to be converted to compost. The bins are specifically designed for garden waste and cost $12.50 a quarter. Residents are urged to register their interest either by phoning 1300 IPSWICH or at http://www.ipswich.qld.gov.au.

The Ipswich Art Gallery is located in the restored old town hall in the heart of Ipswich Central. The Gallery presents a fantastic program of changing exhibitions and heritage displays, special events, performances, family activities and art workshops. Residents are reminded that it can be an offence under the State Traffic Act in addition to Councils Local Laws. Fines can be issued if the offence is find to be a serious breach of the regulations and especially when safety is considered. See more information at the ICC website here.
The Division 10 office has a Community Meeting Room available for any community group to use free of charge. It is currently used by Rosewood Lions, Country Music and Cabanda.
