BVRT The Section within ICC (Brisbane Valley Rail Trail)
The formal status of the BVRT within ICC is ‘closed’ until a crossing of the Brisbane Valley Highway can be resolved. This section of the Rail Trail that is within Division 10 and 6 of Ipswich City Council, is still under the control of the Qld State Government. This section will be the focus of a work initiative over the next few months. We are aware that locals and others use this section so the State Government has recently completed some maintenance work to improve the user experience.

The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT) follows the disused Brisbane Valley rail line from Wulkaraka to Yarraman over a distance of 161 km. Situated within a two-hour drive from Brisbane, the trail provides walkers, cyclists and horse riders an opportunity to experience a unique historical and diverse rural landscape. Sections of the trail currently open include Wanora to Toogoolawah and Moore to Yarraman. The section of the BVRT within the City of Ipswich is under State Government management. The formal status of the BVRT within Ipswich is ‘closed’ until a crossing of the Brisbane Valley Highway can be resolved at Wanora. The State Government are aware that locals and others use the Ipswich section of the BVRT north of the Warrego, so they have recently completed some maintenance work to improve user experience. Ultimate development of the Ipswich section of the BVRT will include a concrete bikeway from Wulkuraka through to Bailey Road, Muirlea, with the remaining section to the north treated as gravel trail, to marry into the existing Wanora section (Somerset Regional Council area)
