Tourism and Libraries Committee Chairperson Councillor David Pahlke said Destination Ipswich featured information on venues, accommodation, tour operators, entertainment and event organisers to help businesses plan their next event.
“Ipswich offers a wide range of tourism experiences for the corporate traveller, and most importantly, it’s an affordable destination,” Cr Pahlke said. “This website highlights the region’s point of difference and makes arranging corporate functions easy by providing a direct link to an array of event services.” Cr Pahlke said many businesses looking for a location to host their next conference or event made decisions based on information obtained from destination websites.
“We know that visitors travelling to Ipswich for business have very different expectations and needs from those travelling for leisure,” Cr Pahlke said. “Corporate travellers will travel at any time of the year in any weather and they are not necessarily attracted to a destination because of its tourist attractions. “They are more likely to travel for shorter periods of time but they tend to travel more regularly.
“Government statistics also show that the average daily spend of an interstate or overseas delegate for a business event is over twice what leisure visitors spend. “Destination Ipswich was developed with these things in mind. It highlights specific services that cater especially to corporate events and visiting delegates.
