An entourage of nearly 50 which included 12 beautiful young ladies visited Ipswich recently. It was all part of a Tourism Qld Marketing campaign in targeting key Asian markets. The entourage also included 3 newspaper reporters, three Tourism Qld members and a Chinese Film Crew.The models were using Queensland as the backdrop for a calendar that will be distributed throughout Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Japan. The photo shoot will show off the best of South East Queensland, including Brisbane by night, Sirromet Winery, Palazzo Versace and the Gold Coast’s beaches and national parks.
The number of Chinese visitors to Brisbane was up 19 percent to 62,000 over the year to March 2010, while Chinese visitors to the Gold Coast were up 15 percent to 106,000 over the same period. Chinese visitors also spent $326 million on trips to Queensland, an increase of $87 million from the previous year
