IPSWICH’s many and varied attractions including the Grandchester Stage Coach Company are now showcased in the 2010 Ipswich Visitors Guide. The Guide was a full-colour brochure which promoted the city’s attributes to visitors and local residents alike.

The guide highlights the various experiences, attractions, tours and accommodation on offer in Ipswich. 50,000 copies had been produced for distribution through visitor information centres in Queensland and northern New South Wales as well as at various tourism events including next month’s (April) Travel Xpo in Brisbane. These guides will help us to sell Ipswich to the world and focus attention on all the great things the city has to offer.

The new guide would complement Ipswich’s dedicated tourism website, known as Discover Ipswich, which had been operating since September 2008. It has proven to be very popular with the community and also offers information on the full range of tourism experiences available in Ipswich.

The city’s economy is boosted by $100 million per year simply through visitors to the city spending money on accommodation, attractions, tours and at a variety of other businesses through out Ipswich. This is based on figures released in 2008 by Tourism Australia which included Ipswich visitor information for the first time.”

Ipswich was a destination for all sorts of visitors including 11,000 international visitors a year, 174,000 domestic visitors who stay overnight and 688,0000 domestic day visitors every year. It is interesting that of the 688,000 domestic day visitors, 300,000 or 44 per cent of these say they are visiting friends and relatives while 216,0000 or 31 per cent are on holidays or engaged in a leisure pursuit.

Inquiries about the new Ipswich Tourist Guide can be directed to the Ipswich Visitor Information Centre on 3281 0555 or can be ordered online through the Discover Ipswich website at
