Watercress Creek Olive Festival

Pine Mountain Progress Association and Mahon Family have combined to produce the 2nd annual Watercress Creek Olive Festival which took place this 14 March 2010.

The Olive Festival supports emerging local industries with great tourist potential for Ipswich area. The Mahon family have farmed this property since 1862 and the land has been used previously for dairy farming and mixed cropping. In 1989 the family planted some 4000 trees on 3 blocks with 4-5 varieties per block

The Olives are processed locally at the Coolana factory at Minden and have won national awards for extra virgin olive oil and for table olives. On sale were – locally grown and produced olive, wine and cheese products.

The Pine Mountain Progress and Rural Fire Brigade were also represented with stalls.
