Purchased recently by the Edwards Property Group, building reports indicated the building was 70% termite ridden and simply could not be restored. Many long standing residents gave their thoughts and memories on the history of the building.
A picture theatre originally stood on the site and burnt down 1928/29 and was replaced by the current building with the Ruhno Family as owners. The first tenant was Nurse Gertie Brooks and Dr Walter Greely. Nurse Brooks was still there in 1936.
Its been a chemist, doctors surgery, a dentist, electrical store, dressmaking business and in more recent years a Laundromat. Melissa McGeary’s parents Alan and Anna Morris opened the first laundry in April 1985
Tom Edwards has approval for four shops and it is thought that a new laundromat could be one of them.
Cr Pahlke is seeking early photographs of the business areas of Rosewood in his quest to compile a history of the main street.
